Description

An American silver bowl by the father of the first assayer of the US mint, appointed by George Washington. The Richardson family were prominent Quakers and silversmiths. This bowl measures 7 inches across the top and  3  inches tall. It weighs 10 Oz. 17 Dwt. The original ownership initials on the base are IR. Maybe it was for his own family’s use ? While that is certainly possible it can only be said to be conjecture.  This lovely early American bowl was made in Philadelphia circa 1760.
