Tapered cylindrical form with domed cover. The initial L was added somewhat later. Strong Benjamin Burt mark on with side of the handle. The finial is a flaming urn. The lid show repair inside where it appears to have been strengthened where there was an old split. Still a magnificent early Boston tankard. It stands 9 1/2″ tall and weighs 29 Oz. 18 Dwt. Provenance is ex-Sotheby’s and the deWolfe family of Boston.
