Description
These silver dishes each measure just over 4 inches by 3 inches. They were made by Joel Sayre circa 1800 in either Southhampton NY or perhaps NYC where he moved to in 1802. The form is virtually unknown and incredibly rare. Each dish weighs about 2 1/2 Oz. They are engraved on the edge “HELENA” in a ribbon. They are finely gadrooned on both the top and at the base. Most likely they were designed to used as condiment dishes at a fine dining table.
