Description
Joseph Goldthwaite made this cann in Boston circa 1730-1735. It’s a pretty thing but does have a few condition issues. There is a split starting on the rim near the handle, the crest is worn and the bottom of the handle is just starting to push in, when viewed from the inside. Still, it presents very well and is quite rare. It stands 4 3/4 inches in height. Nice engraving on the front of the cann of the British lion holding the British flag, all within a heraldic shield. In the 1730’s proudly proclaiming your Britishness was very patriotic, The engraving is worn but quite charming. Bold marks on the bottom and to the right of the handle. The weight is 10 Ounce 11 Dwt.
