Description
Very nice early Creamer by Nathaniel Morse. This was made in Boston about 1745. The three legs are topped by female heads with wavy upswept hair. Top joint of handle probably reinforced long ago and the MB owner’s initials in script are later eighteenth century. Listed in Kane as perhaps the only creamer by Morse known. He most likely apprenticed with John Coney. The piece stands 4 5/8 inches tall and weighs 5 Oz. 4 Dwt. MFA Boston has a similar creamer by Daniel Parker, Charlestown, Mass. circa 1750. It also has the three ladies faces where the legs and body join. This is an incredibly rare form in American silver.
