Description
This is a very nice pair of tablespoons by Peter Getz. They were made in Lancaster, PA. about 1790. They measure 9 inches in length and weigh 3 Oz. 16 Dwt. Peter Getz is most famous today for creating the Getz (pattern) half dollars of 1792. These coin were privately made and are believed to have been proposals to Congress for a half dollar and cent, before the Philadelphia mint began producing coins. Today there are existing copper and silver specimens which can bring well into 6 figures for nice examples.These spoons show an old gold wash, most noticeably to the bowls.
