Description
This porringer was made in Newport, Rhode Island about 1730 by Samuel Vernon. M+C initials are on the handle and “Elizabeth Bennett” appears underneath. MG to RG is probably a little later. The SV mark is strong underneath the handle but weak on the base. There is an old repair to the handle and overall it does show its age but it is still quite charming. The porringer measures 7 1/2 inches and weighs 8 Oz. 12 Dwt. Sold
