Description

This cylindrical silver tankard has a domed hinged cover and is engraved on the front with cross fronds and inscription. The handle is a scroll handle with oval terminal and an ornate thumb piece. The monogram of John Edwards is engraved in the dome, showing authenticity and quality craftsmanship.

The inscription reads: Presented to the First Church in Medford by Charles O. Whitmore of Boston. A descendent in the 5th generations from John Whitmore, Deacon. 1713 – 1739. John Edwards, born circa 1671, apprenticed with Jeremiah Dummer about 1685 to 1692. SOLD
