This very rare caster by Elias Pelletreau was made in Southampton, New York circa 1760. Elias trained with the great Simeon Soumain and is considered Long Island’s finest colonial silversmith. His old workshop is now a small museum in Southampton.This caster is marked twice, once on the lower section and once on the upper. It has a wonderful shape and great surfaces and color. The piece measures 5 1/4 inches tall and weighs 3 Oz. 18 Dwt.
