Description

Here is a great teapot by Joseph and Nathaniel Richardson. It weights 20 Oz. 14 Dwt and measures 10″ in length. Engraved on one side is the Latin “Nobilis Est Ira Leonis”, which translates to “the Lion’s anger is noble”. I can’t help but think of Aslan as I read that. C.S. Lewis wouldn’t have dreamt him up for another 150 years but it seems fitting. The lift-off cover is connected by chain and the shoulders are beautifully engraved with a band of scrolls, shellwork and foliage. A thoroughly delightful teapot from one of Philadelphia’s premier silversmithing families.
