An American silver cann by Simeon Soumaine. New York, NY circa 1740. Height 4 1/4 inches 12 oz 5 dwt. Soumaine was born in London about 1685 and came to New York about 1690 as a child. He became one of New York’s premier early silversmiths and Elias Pelletreau was one of his apprentices. This elegant cann shows his mastery of the art. SOLD
